LIBRARY

 

“A LABORATORY OF LEARNING KNOWLEDGE RESOURCE CENTRE”. Our library is one of the oldest libraries in twin cities, which was established in 1968, With a carpet area of 658 sq .ft covering 95 cup boards with a seating capacity of 90 visitors. This library caters to the needs of about 1580 users comprising students as well as staff. The Library is the backbone of the academic activities of the college and plays a vital role in Teaching, Learning & Research. At present the library has in its stock about 37, 905 books and no of titles 24,220 , covering a variety of subjects. It also receives 29 current journals on different subjects to facilitate current reading .E-Resources with E-Journals & E-Books and other periodicals.

N-LIST

Library is a member of N-LIST, National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for scholarly content, a project funded by the Ministry of HRD under it National misssion on education through ICT N-LIST extends e-resources to colleges in India and is jointly excuted by the UGC INFONET Digital Library Consortium, INFLIBNET centre and the INDEST-AICTE Consortium, IIT Delhi.
Through the N-List Project, the Library provides access to e-resource to students, researchers and faculty members. The authorised users of the library can access e-resources and download articles required by them directly from the publisher’s website. The college library has access to selected electronic resources including electronic journals, electronic books and bibliographic databases. These resources include more than 2,154 e-journals, 51,746 e-books and a bibliographic data called MathSciNet containing more than two million reviews of research articles in mathematics. Authorized users i.e students and faculty are given the password against their names. Orientation is given to all the members in the library at reqular interval and also as and when required. Users can have access to these resources from anywhere with the help of internet.

Library Automation

Library is fully automated On-line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is provided to search for information through Author, Subject, Title, ISBN, Call No, Keywords etc to know the status or availability of the book. Users are given the facility to reserve a book or give their requirement to the Librarian online with the help of a unique identity number and a common password. Charging and discharging is done through Bar-Code by using a scanner. Library is a member of NEWGENLIB.

The library is kept open on all working days from 10.00 am to 5.00pm

LIBRARY RULES

 

  • Each under graduate student is provided with 3 cards. A student can borrow one book on each library card for duration of 2 weeks
  • Books borrowed by the students can be renewed for another 2 weeks, if the book is not much in demand.
  • Overdue charges of Rs.0.50 paisa per book per day will be collected for the students after the expiry of the due date.
  • Readers are required to deposit their bags / belongings at the property counter before entering the library
  • If a book is lost, the librarian has the power to decide whether the book has to be replaced or a fine is to be paid by the borrower. The fine could be up to six times the book’s current value, in addition to handing charges.
