About the Department

The Department of Biotechnology was established in the year 2004.

Vision

To develop a strong foundation in fundamentals of Biotechnology for scientific understanding and promote scientific aptitude among students.

To harness the talents of the young minds and provide them with a platform for their bright future.

Mission

To promote research culture for self and to benefit the society at large.

To empower them with life skills through effective guidance and counselling.

To prepare students for facing further challenges of higher education, competitive examination.

Program Objectives (POs)

  • The aim of the Undergraduate Program in Biotechnology is to develop the necessary skills and aptitudes to become a biotechnologist ready to contribute scientific knowledge to the development of products, goods, and services.
  • To acquire the necessary knowledge in different scientific disciplines of biosciences (cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, biostatistics, etc.) thereby enabling the student to identify and analyze a range of problems in the fields of biology.
  • To acquire knowledge and abilities to apply the biotechnological tools necessary in the development of products with applications to healthcare.

  • Focuses on developing practical skills—experimental, technological, communication, and soft skills—that can enhance employment prospects.

  • Focuses on lifelong learning, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills to help students become self-reliant and empowered.

Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

  • This course will enable the students to learn modern techniques and skills necessary for successful development of Research in Biotechnology.
  • This course will help the students to inculcate leadership skills to work dynamically in the industries of Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals.
  • This course not only develops the skills to use sophisticated equipment but also teaches students to work efficiently within a team environment in multidisciplinary areas of Life Sciences.
  • It is also beneficial for future studies such as M.Sc, M.Phil, PhD.
