I. Overview of the Department
About the Department
The Department of Statistics at Andhra Mahila Sabha Arts & Science College was established in 1995 and stands as a pillar of academic excellence, fostering analytical thinking and a deep understanding of statistical principles. Established with the aim of providing students with a robust foundation in statistics, the department is committed to nurturing the analytical capabilities of its students, equipping them with the tools required to solve real-world problems through data analysis and statistical methods.
The department offers undergraduate programmes that cover various branches of statistics, including probability theory, statistical inference, applied statistics, and data analytics. The curriculum is periodically updated to meet the evolving demands of industries and research, integrating modern tools and technologies like statistical software packages to enhance students’ learning experiences.
A four-year UG Programme BSc (Honors) in Computer Science was introduced in 2023.

Programme Objectives (PO’s)
The B.Sc. (MSCs) program, combining Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science, is designed to provide a comprehensive education that equips students with a strong foundation in three highly complementary disciplines. The program aims to foster critical thinking, quantitative analysis, and computational skills that prepare students for a range of careers in industries like data science, information technology, research, finance, and more.
