Aims and Objectives
Foundation and Inauguration
Gandhi Satabdi Bhavan was established by Dr. Durgabai Deshmukh. The foundation stone was laid by Shri V. V. Giri, former President of India,
on 6th April 1971, and it was inaugurated by Shri Khando Bhai Desai,then Governor of Andhra Pradesh, on 30th June 1972.
The Bhavan houses portraits of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Durgabai Deshmukh, and other prominent freedom fighters.It has hosted eminent personalities such as former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi and President Shri V. V. Giri. Distinguished leaders including Dr. B. N. Ganguly, Dr. Malcolm, and Swami Ranganadhananda of the Ramakrishna Mission
have addressed gatherings here.
Vision
To learn from and evolve through the principles of Mahatma Gandhi.
Mission
- To propagate the message and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi relevant to contemporary society.
- To serve as a moral guide for future leaders and the nation.
- To inspire service to society and purposeful living through Gandhian principles.
- To function as a center for study, research, teaching, and application of Gandhian values.
- Monthly Meetings: Conducted on the second Friday of every month with participation from staff and students. Activities include skits, speeches, free verse, patriotic songs, and discussions on social issues.
- Interfaith Readings: Verses from the Bhagavad Gita, Bible, and Quran are read along with prayers and bhajans such as “Ram Dhun”.
- Annual Celebrations: Gandhi Jayanti and Foundation Day are celebrated on April 6, while Martyrs’ Day is observed on January 30.
