Support for Visually Challenged Unit
At Andhra Mahila Sabha Arts & Science College for Women (AMS ASCW), we are committed to ensuring that all our students have access to an inclusive and supportive learning environment. To this end, the college has established the Visually Challenged Unit, aimed at making the campus more accessible and accommodating for students with disabilities.
Purpose of the Visually Challenged Unit
The Visually Challenged Unit seeks to remove barriers and ensure the holistic growth and development of students with disabilities. The key objectives of the unit are:
- Facilitating Admissions: The Visually Challenged unit assists in the admission process for students with disabilities, ensuring they are seamlessly integrated into academic programs.
- Providing Guidance and Support: The Unit offers continuous guidance to students with disabilities, helping them navigate academic and social challenges within the college.
Coordinator of the Visually Challenged Unit
The Visually Challenged unit is coordinated by the Convenor. Students can reach out to her for assistance or concerns regarding:
- Barriers to Learning and Accommodation: If any student faces challenges in learning or requires special accommodation, the Convenor is available to offer support and guidance.
- Discrimination Issues: The Unit addresses any instances of discrimination faced by students with disabilities, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all.
Accessibility and Facilities at AMS ASCW
In addition to the support provided by the Visually Challenged Unit, AMS ASCW ensures that the infrastructure and facilities on campus are fully accessible to students with disabilities. Some of the features include:
- Wheelchair Accessibility: The entire campus is wheelchair accessible, with ramps and elevators available in all buildings.
- Hearing Impairment Support: Desktop systems are equipped with microphones and speakers to help students with hearing impairments follow lectures easily.
- Modified Examination Timings: Examination timings are adjusted as required for students with disabilities, offering them the necessary time to complete their assessments.
- Scribe Provision: A scribe is assigned to assist students who require help with writing their responses.
