About the Department

Vision

To be recognized as one of the ideal departments in Sanskrit language and literature in the country inclusive in perspective and orientation in producing resources of language technology standards, thus developing language/linguistic skills, research, employability, and training.

Mission

  • To provide learning opportunities and experiences of high quality to Sanskrit students at the undergraduate level through outcome-based and student-centric curriculum.
  • To contribute to the value-based holistic development of the students in cognitive and affective domains of learning by providing them opportunities for experiential learning through a number of real-time activities outside the classroom.
  • To enable students to learn advanced language technology in acquiring employment opportunities.
  • To encourage students to conduct minor research in interdisciplinary areas in Sanskrit language/literature with their core subjects.
  • To collaborate with other reputed institutions in the country and abroad in teaching, research, and training in the fields of Sanskrit language and literature.

Best Practices

  • Training students to recite selected Slokas from the prescribed syllabus.
  • Entry level Assessment Test online for 1st Sem Students (Test Link will be shared soon).
  • Write-up projects for students and ask questions on the assignments given.

Uniqueness

  • Testing the students through online M.C.Qs in assessing their performance in the classroom.
  • Conducting sudden tests like asking students to prepare 5 questions in English from the given 4 Shlokas after the lesson being taught, thus assessing their understanding at evaluative and creative cognitive levels.
  • Test to analyze figures of speech (Alankaras) from the given Shlokas, upskilling them to learn Sanskrit typing skills and to upload the same in screenshots with their contact emails online.

Innovative Ideas

Motivate students to interdisciplinary research from Sanskrit to Telugu or Hindi or English for comparative analysis.

Course Learning Outcomes

After completing this course, students will be able to:

  • Discuss sociological trends and movements in Sanskrit literature (Cognitive level – Understand).
  • Discuss poetic traits of classical and modern literature (Cognitive level – Understand).
  • Analyze critically the literary features of Mahabharatha (Analyze).
  • Analyze critically the comparative literary features between contemporary Sanskrit, English, and Telugu literature, like translational genres.
  • Evaluate critically interdisciplinary features with sociological and scientific approaches in the lesson “Kritaghne nasti nishkriti” from Panchatantra Kathaah (Cognitive Level – Evaluate).
  • Analyze and apply critically concepts from “ShishyAnu Shasanam” from Taittiriya Upanishad and “Madhuropadesaha” by Poetess Gangadevi, fostering life, management, and research skills (Cognitive level – Evaluate).
